F135 With Safer Turbo Splitting (STS) Technology

It's a two step splitting system designed to increase operator safety by encouraging the operator to remove both hands from the wood to achieve higher production.

How does it work? The first splitting control lever works generally like most log splitters. Pull the lever for out stroke, and push it for retract, however, the first lever works at a slower ram speed. The second lever(2 levers on models equipped with Auto Cycle) increases the splitting speed. The faster splitting speed lever can only be activated in the out stroke if the other, slower speed lever, is being held simultaneously. The return stroke does not require both levers to be held for quick return.

What's the purpose? The idea is this. Most operators tend to stabilize the wood with one hand while pulling the control lever with the other hand. Slower speed minimizes the risk of the operator accidentally putting their hand in dangers way while securing the wood between wedge and ram. Once wood is caught, the system encourages the operator to remove their hands from the wood completely by requiring them to pull all levers with both hands to achieve a faster splitting cycle time. Since operators are generally trying to split wood as fast as possible, this new 2 speed system helps train the operator to remove both hands in order to achieve a faster  cycle time.
